5 killed in accidents

GUJRANWALA, Oct 27: Five people, including two children, were killed and two dozen others injured in separate road accidents here on Sunday.

A minor boy, Hanif, was crossing the road when he was hit by a mini-bus. He sustained critical injuries and died on the spot. Later, the mini-bus rammed into a roadside tree as a result of which about two dozen passengers sustained injuries. The injured were taken to hospital.

Another boy, Liaqat Ali, was knocked down by a wagon on Rahwali Road. He also died on the spot.

Ashraf was hit and killed by a coaster on Main Sheikhupura Road.

Shoaib of Bakhatewala locality was run over by a tractor-trolley on Hafizabad Road while crossing the road.

Imran was killed when he fell from a running bus on Alipur Chattha Road. He was sitting on the roof of the bus.

LOOTED: Dacoits killed an elderly man besides looting three houses in separate strikes in and around the city on Sunday.

Muhammad Boota of Darveshpura, Akbar Town, was asleep when four outlaws entered his house by scaling the boundary wall. They woke him up and started collecting cash and jewellery. When the house owner put up resistance, the intruders attacked him with a knife and escaped. Boota died on the spot.

Four armed men stormed into the house of Yousaf in Naushera Virkan and fled after looting Rs150,000 in cash, prize bonds worth Rs20,000, gold ornaments, a rifle and valuables.

Four dacoits in uniform entered the house of Nazir in Barway village, Kamoki, escaped after looting cash and gold ornaments worth Rs200,000. Mubashir Saif was deprived of motorcycle by two robbers in Satellite Town.
