MULTAN, Oct 27: The Pakistan Seraiki Party has termed the inordinate delay in the formation of governments at centre and the provinces ‘a crisis of the state’.

The extraordinary meeting of the PSP central committee, presided over by its chief Taj Muhammad Langah here on Sunday, observed that the crisis depicted hollowness of the system and bankruptcy of the ruling elite.

It was alleged that the nationalists’ defeat was ensured by the government through rigging. It condemned the regime for ‘engineering’ the polls against nationalists of smaller provinces.

The meeting urged the nationalist forces of the country to reunite according to the Islamabad declaration of November 1998. The Pakistan Oppressed Nations’ Movement (PONM) came into being as an outcome of the declaration.

It also condemned firing and consequent deaths of two Balochistan National Party activists in Quetta a few days ago by the law enforcers.

Privatization of national financial institutions and ‘imposition’ of board of governors on educational and health institutes were also criticized at the meeting convened to deliberate upon the causes of party’s debacle in the Oct 10 elections.

Syed Hasan Raza Bokhari, Malik Shahzad Irfan and Malik Shafqat Maitla constitute a committee constituted to reorganize the party on district and tehsil level.

A questionnaire was also drafted to ascertain public opinion about the Seraiki movement for a separate province, role of PSP and other Seraiki nationalist political parties in the movement, quality and stature of the Seraiki leadership and the causes of humiliating defeat of the PSP candidates in the elections.
