LAHORE, Nov 14: In highly sarcastic remarks, ARD President Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan on Wednesday ‘congratulated’ President Musharraf on his first ‘success’ in having US President Bush ‘honour’ his words about the Northern Alliance’s entry in Kabul.
Speaking to newsmen at his residence, he said at a joint news conference Presidents Bush and Musharraf had said that the Northern Alliance would not enter Kabul after the withdrawal of the Taliban. But, he pointed out, the Northern Alliance forces not only entered Kabul but NA representative in the United Nations also claimed that the forces had a nod from the United States.
The senior leader said the NA forces were also committing atrocities, contrary to the US assurances given to President Musharraf. In his opinion, the situation in Afghanistan would remain unstable and the guerrilla war would go on in the foreseeable future.
Hafiz Saeed: Markaz Dawa Wal Irshad Amir Prof Hafiz Muhammad Saeed has urged Muslim rulers and people to join jihad in Afghanistan as America was hoodwinking Pakistan against which India was planning a major offensive.
In a statement on Wednesday, he expressed his satisfaction over the war planning by Taliban and said by quitting the government and deciding to start a guerilla war they had saved Afghans from the constant bombing by America.
Hafiz Saeed said that leaving Kabul was a war trick and this would prove beneficial for jihad and mujahideen.
He said America was hoodwinking Pakistan and was covertly supporting India and Russia. India too was preparing for a major offensive against Pakistan in league with America and its allied forces on the excuse of the recent terrorism.
He said America, India and Russia were trying hard to uproot Islam in the region. The forces which occupied Kabul actually belonged to India and Russia and included some communist Afghans.
All Muslim rulers and people should join the jihad in Afghanistan as they had done at the time of its invasion by the former USSR, otherwise Pakistan will be in danger, he said.
JUI: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam amir Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday said his party would continue its struggle against America shoulder to shoulder with Taliban.
In a statement issued here, he said by quitting Kabul and the government, Taliban had established that it was the trait of free nations to render all sacrifices for their independence and sovereignty. He urged the people not to worry about the developments in Afghanistan as such events were the part of the independence struggle.
The Maulana said the Pakistan government must now explain to the people why Taliban had been punished. He said the rulers first demanded American dollars and were now desiring a Pakistan-friendly government in Kabul.
He said the real war had now started and it would continue till the elimination of oppression by America.
