HYDERABAD, Oct 25: The activists of the Mazloom Thar Ittehad staged a protest demonstration outside the press club on Friday to protest against the inhuman excesses of the Arbabs of Tharparkar district.

Addressing the rally, Shaukat Rahimoon and Chaitan Ramani appealed to the authorities to take notice of the excesses of the Arbabs against the poor people.

They said that hundreds of villagers had been implicated in false cases.

They said that the villagers of 32 villages had been asked by the Arbabs to vacate the villages which had spread fear among the people.

They appealed to the Schedule Caste Federation and human rights organizations to protect the poor villagers from the excesses of the Arbabs.

They alleged that the EDO (education) on the instance of the Arbabs was harassing the teachers.

They demanded that re-election should be held in the district under the supervision of the army, false cases against the villagers should be withdrawn, the people injured during the election should be paid compensation, the DPO and other administrative officers should be replaced, and notice should be taken of the excesses of the EDO (education).

DEMO HELD: The workers of the M/s Fateh Apparel and Fateh Weaving Mills Ltd staged a march from the Hyder Chowk to the press club to protest against the non-payment of their outstanding dues.

They carried banners and raised slogans against the owners of the mills.

They told newsmen that their outstanding dues had not been paid since the last 10 years.

They said whenever they went to the mills they were threatened with dire consequences by the security guards.

They said that the labour department was also maintaining a discreet silence.

They warned that if their outstanding dues were not paid they would resort to extreme measures.
