PESHAWAR, Nov 14: Joint candidate of Progressive group and Friends for the slot of president for Peshawar University Teachers Association, Nasser Ali Khan has strongly condemned political activities on campus and said the PUTA was a non-political organization which had nothing to do with politics.
Talking to PPI, Nasser Ali Khan said that their group was against politics on the campus and was against those elements who supported political activities on the campus.
Being president of the PUTA in the past also from the Friends group, he said during his tenure the PUTA had organized lectures, seminars and other extra-curricular activities for teachers.
He expressed concern over ban imposed on his welfare body in the past, and added that due to the Progressive’s group efforts this was relaunched and was now working for the rights of teachers.
Nasser Ali Khan of Economics Department was contesting election against Dr Ikhtiar Khan of Chemistry Department from Tanzeem-i-Asateza, affiliated with JI. The election will be held on Nov 15.—PPI
