ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said the PML-N has unanimously decided that the government should implement the parliament resolution on Abbottabad operation in letter and spirit.
Addressing at a press conference, he said that the government should not violate the supremacy of the parliament and make a commission immediately under its spirit. The PML-N Chief said the parliament plays a pivotal role in a democratic set up.
"The parliament passed a unanimous resolution which has a sanctity and it is the prime duty of the government to uphold its sanctity," he added.
He said that his party has also decided to setup an independent commission to investigate into attack on PNS Mehran.
“It is a major incident and an inquiry should be conducted,” he added.
He said that the commission should be constituted with the consultation of the leader of the Opposition in National Assembly.
Nawaz Sharif alleged that the government has set up a commission on Abbottabad incident unilaterally without the consultation of the leader of Opposition.
He alleged that Leader of Opposition Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan has not yet received reply of his letter addressed to the prime minister.
Nawaz said that government announced formation of the commission even without taking its member into confidence.
He also demanded a commission to investigate into the killing of journalist Saleem Shahzad and making public a report of joint investigation team into the murder of Karachi based journalist Wali Khan Babar.
Nawaz said that killing incident of foreigners including women at the hand of security forces in Balochistan was also a matter of grave concern.
“PML-N will take up the matter with the government once the inquiry into the incident is completed.
Replying to a question, he said that the opposition would not allow the government to undermine supremacy of the parliament and would play its constitutional role in and outside the parliament.
