ISLAMABAD: Four matches were decided on Saturday in the 50th Men's National Basketball Championship here at the Hamidi Hall, Pakistan Sports Complex.
Islamabad registered their first win of the tournament with a comfortable victory against Balochistan with the scoreline 72-21. Islamabad’s top-scorers were Rizwan Khurshid with 17 points, Haris Zakria with 15 and Javed Bangash with 14. Sahib (9) and Naseebullah (5) were the leading scorers for Balochistan.
In other matches, WAPDA, Pakistan Air Force and Punjab recorded victories. WAPDA beat Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) 77-63. Yawar Khan was the best player for WAPDA with 25 points while Haris Kamal contributed 16. Ishrat Masood led POF's challenge with 24 points and Ehsanullah added 14.
Pakistan Air Force (PAF) beat Habib Bank Limited 98-56. Ahmed Jan and Akhtar were were the main players, who added 25 points each for PAF. Prem Shahzad also played well for and scored16 points. Adnan Khan was Habib Bank's top-scorer with 19 points while Altaf Habib and Zahid Mehmood chipped in with 14 and nine points respectively.
Punjab beat FATA by 85-57. Khalid Sadi was the highest scorer of the match with 30 points while Bilal Bajwa had 18. Mohammad Sajid and Sajjad Ahmed played a good game for FATA with 18 and 13 points respectively.
