One injured in Indian firing

MUZAFFARABAD, Oct 23: The Indian forces hit a vehicle in the Neelum valley in the northeast of Muzaffarabad on Wednesday, from across the Line of Control, causing injuries to one person, an official said.

The vehicle, a jeep (AJK-903), with five people riding it, was hit on Karen bypass, some 3 kilometres ahead of Tehsil headquarters Athmuqam, at about 11:30 am, the official said.

Karen bypass is an alternative route to the upper belt of the valley. The official said the Indian troops fired at the vehicle without any provocation, which resulted in the injuries to the driver, Faiz Alam.

However, other occupants of the vehicle remained unhurt as they managed to take some shelter, he added.

At least five houses were damaged in Athmuqam by the Indian shelling with mortars and medium artillery, on Tuesday.
