NA Defence Committee demands extra safeguards for nuclear assets

ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly's Defence Committee on Friday demanded extra measures to safeguard Pakistan's nuclear assets, DawnNews reported.

The committee met in camera over the attack on the Mehran naval base and expressed its reservations over the “insecurity” of the country's defence installations.

The committee further stated that the attack on the naval base reflected the failure of the intelligence agencies.

The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Abdul Ghani Talpur.

Moreover, Secretary Defence Athar Ali Khan said the attack on the base could also have entailed insider involvement which was why a thorough investigation was being conducted. — DawnNews
