HYDERABAD, Oct 23: The house job doctors of Liaquat University Hospital observed ‘black day’ here on Tuesday to protest against non-payment of fair wages.
They wore black armbands and hoisted black flags on the hospital buildings.
Speaking to the participants of the general body meeting Dr Shaukat Panhwar, Dr Fayaz Rajpar and Dr Mukhtiar Rajpar said that the doctors had every right to protest against the discrimination in payment of wages.
They said that they had not committed any crime by holding a protest demonstration outside the local press club.
They pledged to continue their protest until redressal of their grievances.
FREE EYE CAMP: Sindh Secretary Information, Ashfaq Ahmed Memon, has said that the institutions and individuals serving the humanity should be eulogised, adding that United Memon Jamaat, Hala, was doing a tremendous job in health and education sectors.
He said this while speaking at the concluding session of the 11th annual free eye camp organised by the United Memon Jamaat, Hala, in collaboration with the Society for the Prevention and Cure of Blindness, Karachi, the Good Hope Lions’ Club, Hyderabad, and the Host Lions’ Club here the other day.
Ashfaq Memon assured support on behalf of the United Memon Jamaat of Pakistan to the Hala Jamaat. Earlier, the first vice president of the Jamaat, Dr Qamar Memon, and the general secretary, Allah Bachayo Memon, spoke on the occasion.
Dr Qamar Memon said that 226 patients were operated in 11 annual camps, of which 196 were provided IOL (lenses) and 12 patients were operated on the Feco machine and 1,562 patients were treated at the OPD.
Later, Mr Ashfaq Memon distributed certificates among the doctors, technicians, workers, volunteers and teachers besides distributing medicines among the patients.
