Jenson clinches CAS trophy

PESHAWAR, Oct 22: Dan Jenson of Australia clinched the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) International squash trophy by defeating Nick Matthew of England at the Army Squash Complex Tuesday.

Jenson beat Matthew of England 15-8, 9-15, 15-13 and 15-13 in a closely contested final in which both players exhibited master strokes, especially Jenson whose drop shots were very effective and a treat to watch for squash enthusiasts.

He scored several points through such well executed shots.

Top ranking players from Australia, Egypt, Malaysia, England, Qatar and Italy participated in four-day tournament.

Former world champion, Jansher Khan, who was playing in his native Peshawar for the first time after coming out of retirement, was defeated on the first day of the tournament.

The winner was awarded the prize amount of US$25,000. Chief of the Air Staff Mushif Ali was the chief guest on the occasion who handed over trophies and cash prizes to the winner and the runner-up.
