LAHORE, Oct 22: The Ehtesab Appellate Bench of the Lahore High Court on Tuesday rejected the bail application of former Sialkot district council chairman and MNA Abdul Sattar Vario facing trial for acquiring illegal assets and corruption in an accountability court.
The bail application was rejected in view of the assurance given by the deputy attorney general that the trial of Vario would be completed in three months. The court observed that the ailments from which the applicant was suffering did not justify his enlargement on bail.
Vario had sought bail on the ground that he had been in NAB custody for the last two years, and his trial was yet to conclude. Moreover he was sick and deserved to be enlarged on bail on health grounds.
