HYDERABAD, Oct 22: Hesco chief executive Brig Tariq Arshad on Tuesday warned the public against manhandling any of the company’s staff.

Speaking at a workers’ meeting, which was held at the Labour Hall in Gari Khata, Brig Arshad said that Wapda was facing more problems in this connection in Sindh by comparison with other provinces.

The meeting, held under the aegis of the Pakistan Wapda Hydro Electric Central Labour Union, was attended by the SE Circle-I, Hyderabad, Rao Abdul Jabbar Khan and other senior company officials.

Brig Arshad assured that the surplus employees of Lakhra power station will be issued appointment letters very soon.

He said that only dishonest functionaries were being punished, adding that he was determined to weed out the black sheep from Hesco.

He said that 26 Hesco officers had either been dismissed or sent on forced retirement.

He announced that promotion orders of deserving employees will be issued soon.

He complimented the central president of the union, Abdul Latif Nizamani, and the union’s provincial general secretary, Mohammad Iqbal Kaim Khani, for espousing the cause of the workers.
