SHIKARPUR, Oct 20: Five people who had been detained in the private prison of Ahmed Shah Masood in Afghanistan reached their homes in Shikarpur District on Saturday.
The five — Maulvi Abdul Rauf Brohi, Hafiz Abdul Aziz Brohi, Abdul Wahid, Abdul Razzaq, and Hafiz Maula Bukhsh — had gone to Afghanistan to support the Taliban some six years ago but had been arrested and detained in the private prison of Ahmed Shah Masood.
They were freed and brought back by the government of Pakistan via Peshawar. They were sent to Karachi from where they left for Shikarpur under the supervision of the Jamiat-i-Ulema-i-Islam, Shikarpur district, Ameer Maulana Abdullah Pahore and Maulana Mohammad Yousuf Brohi.
Talking to newsmen, they said that they had been taken to Iran where they had been kept in a prison at Kiranj for five years where they were clean shaved and tortured by being given electric shocks.
SENTENCED: The second additional sessions judge, Shikarpur, Abdul Wahab Abbasi, has sentenced a man, Ghulam Mustafa Panhwar, to a five-year imprisonment under section 12 Hudood Ordinance on the charges of criminally assaulting a boy.
A co-accused, Ali Hassan, has been acquitted by the court.
