QUETTA, Oct 20: Transporters on Sunday threatened to observe a wheel-jam strike in Balochistan if their demands for stopping robberies and unnecessary checking on highways and reduction in oil prices are not met.

A meeting of Balochistan Bus Federation, presided over by the federation’s president Malik Dad Mohammad Shahwani, expressed concern over increasing robberies on highways and unnecessary checking by law enforcement agencies.

It was observed that despite protest by the transporters, the government had failed to stop looting of buses and trucks.

The transporters protested against repeated increase in oil prices and gave the government one week for meeting their demands.

Representatives of Balochistan Goods Transporters, local bus union, Quetta-Karachi Bus Federation and Makran Transport Union also attended the meeting.
