LAHORE, May 3: Temperatures further rose in the plains of the country on Tuesday and the Met Office said the current heat wave was likely to persist for another two days.
It said the temperatures would further rise in the plains of the country during the next two days. Sindh and adjoining south Punjab would particularly experience extremely hot weather. However, there could be some rain over southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the next 24 hours.
In Lahore, the maximum temperature increased from Monday’s 42 degrees Celsius to 43 degrees Celsius. The minimumtemperature too shot up from Monday’s 24.5 degrees Celsius to 27 degrees Celsius.
Noorpur Thal in south Punjab was the hottest place in the country with a maximum temperature of 47 degrees Celsius. The Met Office said dust storms and gusty winds were expected to break the spell of the heat wave on Friday. There could be light rain over the hills on May 9 and 10.
The maximum temperature of some cities was: Bahawalnagar (44.5 degrees Celsius), Bahawalpur (43.3), Bhakkar (45), Chakwal (42), Dera Ghazi Khan (44.3), Faisalabad and Jhang (43), Jhelum (41.8), Khanpur (42.7), Multan (44.5), Okara (44.5), Rahim Yar Khan (44.8), Sahiwal (42.2), Sargodha and Shorkot (42.5 degrees Celsius).
