LAHORE, Oct 17: The Mutahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has decided to publish a white paper on rigging in the general election.

The decision was made at a meeting of the provincial organization of the six-party alliance here on Thursday.

The meeting, held under the chairmanship of Punjab MMA president Hafiz Muhammad Idrees, described the ‘victory’ of religious parties in the elections as a public rebuff to their detractors.

The meeting also decided to establish contacts with independent MNAs to help Maulana Fazalur Rehman to the office of prime minister and Liaquat Baloch to that of speaker of the National Assembly.

It also decided to observe a thanksgiving day in the Punjab on Friday.

WARM WELCOME: Mutta-hidda Majlis-i-Amal MNA-elect from Mansehra Maulana Abdul Maalik was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival here at the Lahore airport on Thursday.

He was received by MMA and Jamaat-i-Islami’s Punjab president Hafiz Muhammad Idrees, Sahibzada Saeedur Rehman, Maulana Abdur Rauf and others.

Speaking on the occasion Maulana Maalik said all MMA components were united and would also work together in future.

He attributed the MMA success in elections to the sacrifices of those martyred in Afghanistan.

Maulana Maalik said the MMA would struggle in the parliament for the introduction of Islamic order and rule of law in the country.
