Muhammad Iqbal, 50, had allegedly hanged himself at his house in P&D Colony on Multan Road on Tuesday.
Transferred to Quetta a month ago. Iqbal reportedly tookthe ‘extreme step’ after his requests for the cancellation of the transfer and long leave were rejected
Police managed to pushback the protesters inside the GPO.
Chanting slogans against DG Masudul Hasan, the protesters demanded registration of a case against him. They also urged the government to give Rs500,000 as compensation to Iqbal’s widow.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Postal Life Insurance Employees Union threatened a countrywide campaign if the DG was not removed from service.
They would hold another demonstration outside the GPO on Saturday.
