‘Gang war’ claims two lives

LAHORE, April 10: Two people, including a 12-year-old boy, were killed while another was injured in a shooting incident in Sahuwari Mohalla of Mughalpura on Sunday, police said.

Civil Lines division SP Operations Muhammad Omer Saeed told Dawn that Altaf, alias Kala Gujjar, 45, was sitting outside his house when four members of his rival group, Bahadara, arrived there at 9:30pm and opened indiscriminate fire at him.

He said the firing left Kala and boy Anan, who was the son of a Kala’s friend, and Basharat, Kala’s gunman, injured.He said both groups allegedly dealt in narcotics business and developed an enmity a few years ago when Altaf’s brother was murdered by the rival group.

He said the suspects fled the scene.

HONOUR KILLING: A man killed his 35-year-old woman wife for ‘honour’ and later called police offering his arrest on Bahawal Sher Road in Mozang on Sunday, police said.

Muhammad Rafique, a Customs clearing agent, says his wife Sajida Perveen, mother of three, had an affair with someone and on the day of shooting, he had seen his wife with a stranger.

ACCIDENT: A 48-year-old man was killed after he was hit by a car near Moon Market in Iqbal Town on Sunday.

Police said Ali Azhar, of Manawala, was crossing the road at the time of the incident. The victim succumbed to his wounds at Shaikh Zayed Hospital.
