PESHAWAR, Oct 15: The Sarhad Petroleum Cartage and Dealers Association has demanded of the government to take notice of the smuggling and sale of smuggled petroleum products and bring this practice to an end.

A meeting held here on Tuesday, with association chairman Mansoor Sharif in the chair, discussed the problems being faced by the petroleum dealers in the province owing to the sale of smuggled petroleum products in the open market.

According to a press release issued here on Tuesday, the members of the association resented that the smuggled petroleum products were being sold in the Peshawar city and its outskirts causing considerable financial loss to the dealers.

The meeting demanded of the government to take steps to check the illegal activity because it was not only causing financial loss to the petroleum dealers but was also causing a huge financial loss to the national exchequer.

The smuggled products which are sold openly in small shops are also of low and cheap quality which not only damage the engines of the vehicles but also cause environmental pollution.

The association strongly demanded of the government to take immediate action against those involved in this illegal activity.
