DADU: Rafiq Mahesar passes away

DADU, Oct 15: Rafiq Ahmed Mahesar, the People’s Party Parliamentarians candidate from NA-233 (Dadu-III), died of a heart attack on Tuesday.

On Monday night, Mahesar told his family that he had high blood pressure and pain in the chest. He was examined by the local doctors late night.

On Tuesday morning, he fell unconscious and was shifted to Larkana where he died on his arrival at the Chandka Medical College Hospital.

His body was brought to his native village Gahi Mahesar.

When the news spread in Dadu district, Mehar, Radhan, Khairpur Nathan Shah and Sita towns were closed to mourn his death.

He will be laid to rest at the graveyard of Gahi Mahesar on Wednesday.

Mahesar had no child and he had six brothers.

He secured 52,784 votes in the Election 2002 while his opponent Liaquat Jatoi was elected MNA by securing 62,388 votes.

Mahesar was elected MPA in 1988 and MNA in 1990 and 1993. He had played an active role in the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy in 1980s. He was a member of the central executive committee of the PPP.
