Asahi art exhibition at the Commune opens this weekend

Karachi: The Asahi art exhibition at the Commune Artists Colony will open on April 9 from 7 to 11 PM.

The exhibition is a charity event which is being held to collect funds for the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.

“It’s a gesture of compassion for the brave people of Japan in their time of need, and as salute to them from the artistic community in Pakistan,” said Yousuf Bashir, the organizer and one of the artists who will be exhibiting at the event.

Ryo Ishikawa, consul-general Japan and the director of the Japan Cultural Center, will be expected at the event as well.

The Commune Artist Colony is “a creative gathering space for artists and entrepreneurs. The agenda is promotion of visual and performing arts and strengthening of the artist community in Karachi and beyond.”

The exhibition will feature art work by Arif mehmood, Abdul Jabbar Gul, Inam Raja, Imran Zeb, Farrukh Shahab, Nurayah Sheikh Nabi, Hadia Moiz, Yousuf Bashir Qureshi, Malika Abbas, Marvi Malik, Martin Williams, Haroon Ahmed, Shahida Ahmed.

Apart from the opening day, the exhibition will run until April 15, and can be visited from 11 AM to 6 PM on any of these days.
