LAHORE, Oct 14: Lahore High Court Bar Association president Chaudhry Muzammal Khan has called upon President Pervez Musharraf to tender his resignation and let the newly-elected parliament to run the country in accordance with the 1973 Constitution.
In a statement issued here on Monday, the Bar president said that the three-year time allowed by the Supreme Court to Gen Musharraf to run the government and transfer power to the elected civilian government had expired on Oct 12. His continuation in the office was now tantamount to a contempt of court as the apex court had not allowed him to get himself elected president during the transitory period for which his military government had been validated by it.
