GUJRANWALA, Oct 14: PPP’s Ms Shah Nawaz Cheema alleged that PML-C chief Hamid Nasir Chattha had won the elections through massive rigging.

Talking to newsmen in Wazirabad on Monday, Ms Cheema and her father ex-MPA Shah Nawaz Cheema alleged that district Nazim Faiz Ahmad Chattha was involved in rigging and used state machinery and resources for the success of his father.

They said that voters’ lists provided by the election commission were different and voters of 18 years of age could not cast their votes. Ms Cheema alleged that result was changed overnight at the behest of the district Nazim because she was winning by a margin of 2,400 votes. To her surprise, Hamid Nasir Chattha was declared successful in the next morning by taking a lead of 5,100 votes.

Meanwhile, former senator Chaudhry Muhammad Anwer Bhinder, his nephew and MNA-elect Chaudhry Shahid Bhinder of the PML-QA rejected the European Union observers’ allegations of pre-poll and election day rigging.

They claimed the elections were fair and transparent in every respect. They said the PML-QA would form its government in the centre and in the Punjab with the help of like-minded groups.

SHOT DEAD: Outlaws shot dead a man and injured four others on resistance in three incidents here on Monday.

Ehsanullah was on his way home by his cycle alongside the railway track, Ghakkhar Town. Near his house, three robbers snatched cash from him and shot him dead on resistance.

Three masked dacoits barged into Yousaf’s house in Islampur, Naushera Virkan. They collected cash, prize bonds worth Rs25,000, 10 tolas of gold and other valuables. They also beat up Yousaf and his son Waqas on resistance and escaped with the booty.

Five bandits entered the house of Tameer Husain in Ghulam Muhammad Town. The dacoits opened fire on Tameer and his father, Ghulam Nabi, when they raised an alarm. They sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the local DHQ Hospital.
