FAISALABAD, Oct 14: Winning candidates of national and provincial assemblies have started preparing fake documents and accounts pertaining to their election expenses.

The election commission has directed the elected MNAs and MPAs to file their election expenditure till Oct 20 otherwise their names would not be notified.

Most of the winning candidates had spent millions of rupees during their election campaign. They spent lavishly on posters, stickers, handbills, banners, hoardings besides serving food, drinks and tea during election meetings and at election offices.

It is estimated that average expenditure of NA candidate ranged from Rs10 million to Rs15 million and that of a PA candidate from Rs7 million to Rs8 million.

Some of them have hired the services of lawyers and accountants of renowned firms for the preparation of return of expenses. Almost all the winning candidates are reportedly preparing accounts of nearly Rs1.2 million to Rs1.3 million for an NA seat and Rs0.8 million to Rs0.9 million for a PA seat.

According to election rules, the elected MNAs and MPAs will have to face legal action, including conviction, if they provide wrong figures of their election expenses.

It may be mentioned that the election commission had fixed Rs1.5 million election expenses for an NA candidate and Rs1 million for a PA candidate.

FOUND DEAD: A young boy was found dead in the toilet of the local DHQ Hospital here on Monday.

The sanitary staff of the hospital found the body in the toilet of the Liaquat Ward. Police sent the body to hospital for autopsy. As of now, the police have failed to trace the whereabouts of the deceased but claimed that he was an addict.

The cause or motive behind the incident would be cleared after the receipt of the postmortem report.

STABBED: A youth was stabbed to death on Monday by his brother-in-law over a marriage issue in Gujjar Basti.

Gulzar Ahmed had contracted marriage with a girl of his relatives a few months ago. The family members of the girl were against the marriage. The matter was however reconciled during a panchayat, but on Monday Sarfraz Ahmed attacked Gulzar with a sharp weapon. He sustained serious wounds and died on the way to hospital. The accused gave himself up to the police after committing the crime.

ARRESTED: The Anti-Narcotics Force on Monday arrested three drug-traffickers in two raids and recovered 80 kgs hashish from their possession.

On a tip-off, the ANF team intercepted a truck on the Faisalabad-Chak Jhumra Road and arrested two brothers — Aslam and Ramzan with 60 kgs hashish.

Another raiding team arrested Khurshid Ahmed in Hajiabad and seized 20 kgs hashish from his possession.
