The teachers, including females, threatened to boycott classes and supplementary examinations of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, starting from Oct 21, if their salaries were not paid within three days.
The demonstration was held under the aegis of the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA).
Speaking on the occasion, representatives of the teachers, Khadim Hussain Khoso, the regional president of the SPLA, Saleem Ahmad Nahyoon, Shahjahan Panhwar and Jabeen Bhutto said the teachers of the college were paid their salaries from the Hyderabad accounts office for the last 30 years but their salaries had been stopped since August this year.
They said they were being asked to go to the Dadu district headquarter, which was 200 kilometres away, to get their salaries.
The teachers’ representatives said the secretary for education had promised to resolve the problem but due to red- tapism the matter was pending before the education secretary and the finance secretary.
They said while the teachers of the girls college had not received their salaries for the last six months, the male teachers of the degree college had not received their salaries since August.
They warned if they were not paid their salaries within three days, they would resort to a series of protest demonstrations, boycott classes and stage hunger strikes.
Answering a question, they said 80 teachers of boys and girls colleges of Kotri had not received their salaries.
