KARACHI: To show accord with their party leaders, members of Sindh Assembly belonging to Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) decided on Thursday to appear at the Supreme Court with Taj Haider and Sharjeel Inam Memon in a contempt of court hearing scheduled for Friday, DawnNews reported.

PPP members of Sindh Assembly have decided to go in a convoy to register their protest against the contempt notices issued by the apex court against Haider and Memon for their reaction to the Supreme Court verdict that declared the appointment of Justice (retd) Deedar Hussain Shah as chairman of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) illegal.

The contempt notices were issued against the above mentioned leaders under Article 204 of the Constitution relating to contempt of court and Section 3 of the Contempt of the Court Ordinance, 2003.

On March 11, the PPP’s Sindh chapter had called for a strike that halted commercial and business activities in Karachi and other parts of the province.

As a result, according to media reports, seven people lost their lives in different incidents of violence.
