DADU, Oct 13: The PPP candidate from PS-75, Syed Ghulam Shah Jilani, has alleged that the district administration had used the government machinery to support his rival candidate, Dr Manzoor Ahmed Laghari of the Millat Party (MP), in the elections.
Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, he said that thousands of inhabitants of Johi taluka had migrated due to drought like conditions but the election officials had shown 100 per cent vote casting in the area, which was contrary to the average turnout.
He said that the presiding officers and other staff of 12 polling stations — including Drigh Bala, Haji Khan, Ibrahim Laghari, Wahi Pandhi and Solmiani — were appointed on the recommendation of Leghari.
At Leghari’s instigation, the results of these polling stations were changed, Jilani said.
He complained that on the polling day, some polling agents of the People’s Party Parliamentarians were injured by the armed men of Laghari when they raised objections on bogus voting.
When contacted, Laghari denied the charges levelled against him and said that no rigging were carried out at the polling stations.
