SANGHAR, Oct 12: The People’s Party Parliamentarians has faced a complete defeat in Sanghar district as it has lost its three National Assembly and six Provincial Assembly seats to the Pakistan Muslim League-F in the election.
Even the joint front, forged by Asad Ali Junejo, son of former prime minister Mohammad Khan Junejo, with the PPP and the PML-N in Khipro and Jam Nawaz Ali talukas, could not save him from defeat.
The unofficial results of the polls in the district are:
NA-234 (Sanghar-I): Haji Khuda Bux Nizamani (PML-F) secured this seat by grabbing 61,752 votes while his closest rival, Aijaz Shafi (PML-N) got 24,475 votes.
NA-235 (Sanghar-II): Qazi Abdul Quddoos Rajar (PML-F) won this seat by taking 61,380 while Asad Ali Junejo (Independent) secured 34,848 votes.
NA-236 (Sanghar-III): Mohammad Khan Junejo (PML-F) captured this seat by taking 48,414 votes while Fida Hussain Dero (PPP) got 41,867 votes.
PS-78 (Sanghar-I): Choudhry Iftikhar Ahmed (PML-F) secured this seat by taking 28,365 votes while Qurban Shah of (PPP) got 6,982 votes.
PS-79 (Sanghar-II): The winner on this constituency, Haji Pir Bux Junejo (PML-F), secured 38,544 votes against Abid Rind of the PPP who received 24,393 votes.
PS-80 (Khipro): Anwar Hingoro of the PML-F grabbed this seat by taking 41,254 votes while Ali Hassan Hingorjo of the PPP got 19,363 votes.
PS-81 (Jam Nawaz Ali): Jam Madad Ali of the PML-F retained this seat by getting 34,356 votes while Ghulam Ali Wassan of the PPP bagged 19,120 votes.
PS-82 (Tando Adam): Imam Din Shauqeen of the PML-F emerged victorious in this constituency by getting 28,747 votes while Mukhia Ali Shoro of the PPP secured 25,177 votes.
At PS-83 (Shahdadpur): The result of the close contest between Mahi Khan Wassan of the PML-F and Abdul Rehman Thaheem of the PPP is still not clear but it is learnt that Wassan is winning with a lead of 135 votes.
In the past since 1988, the PPP had been wining the National Assembly and Sindh Assembly seats of Tando Adam, Shahdadpur and Sinjhoro talukas.It position in the area weakened after two local heavyweights, Shahnawaz Junejo and Jam Madad Ali, left the party and joined Pir Pagaro-led PML-F.
