KARACHI, Oct 11: The teachers representatives are all for a change and believe that there is a need to stem the deteriorating standard of education.
This was stated by secretary of the Federation of All- Pakistan University Academic Staff Association, Dr Riaz Ahmed, on Friday.
However, he added, the standard would improve if conditions of teaching, research and teachers were developed and education was viewed as a service from which the masses benefited.
They proposed that the bottlenecks in the existing University Act of 1974 should be made the reference point and problems should be addressed accordingly.
Dr Riaz was of the view that the joint struggle of teachers and doctors would continue till demands about the reversal of the current reforms in education and health sectors were met.—APP
