LAHORE, Oct 10: Governor Khalid Maqbool and his wife cast votes at the Cooper Road’s Livestock Complex polling station on Thursday morning.

The Governor’s House staff also cast votes at the same polling station in the constituency of NA-120.

Talking to reporters, the governor admitted that the turnout was very low but expressed the hope that it would improve in the afternoon.

He said: “The decision to cast vote or not is to be taken by the people and the turnout reflects their response.”

The governor stated that President Gen Pervez Musharraf had announced that he would transfer all powers to the new prime minister. “We will also follow suit and transfer all powers to the new chief minister.”

Replying to a question, Mr Maqbool said the government would welcome any winning party and would allow it to form the government.

The government had made all arrangements to welcome the new elected set-up, he said, adding that it would transfer power as per the schedule to be announced later.

Later, the governor visited some parts of the city to check the process of voting.
