QUETTA: Chief Secretary Balochistan Mir Ahmed Bakhsh Lehri on Saturday inaugurated the three-day long anti-polio campaign in Balochistan by administering the anti-polio drops to a child here at Civil Hospital Quetta.
The health workers would start administering the anti-polio drops from 7 March being launched jointly by the UNICEF, WHO and Health Department government of Balochistan in the province.
Secretary health, Jalal Mandokhail, Director General health Abdullah Jaan Kakar and representatives of UNICEF and WHO were also present on the occasion.
Chief Secretary Balochistan said the government is committed to eradicating menace of polio from the country.
He issued directives to the vaccination mobile teams to administer polio drops to children up to five years of age with a spirit of national responsibility.
Chief Secretary Balochistan appealed to the parents, teachers and other opinion leaders to cooperate with the health teams and ensure polio vaccination to their children so that younger generation could be protected from disability.
DG Helath, Abdullah Jaan Kakar, on the occasion said that during March 07 to 09 millions of children would be administered anti- polio drops for which mobile teams would visit door-to-door whereas, stationary teams would also administer polio drops in all the teaching, DHQ, THQ hospitals, rural health centres and basic health units.
Some other teams had also been deputed at the transactional points i.e. railway stations, bus terminals, airports and exits of cities to administer the polio drops to the traveling children, he added The comprehensive arrangements had been finalized to launch anti polio drive in the province in a most befitting manner, he maintained.
