LAHORE, Oct 9: A division bench of the Lahore High comprising Mr Justice Mian Najamuz Zaman and Mr Justice Bashir A.Mujahid on Wednesday accepted the bail application of Farrukh Yasin Kamboh advocate, PPP candidate for the Punjab Assembly from Kasur.
Kasur police had registered a case against the petitioner and eight others on the charge of amputating the hands and feet of Amanat alias Kali on Sept 29 for supporting their rival candidate.
The police reported that the lawyer was not present at the scene of the crime, as alleged in the FIR. Moreover complainant Amanat was involved in a number of criminal cases.
A large number of lawyers, including Lahore High Court Bar Association office-bearers and Kasur Bar Association leaders, attended the court proceedings on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Muhammad Salim Nagi advocate, representing the aged parents of Amanat, refused to plead his case apparently under pressure from the bar when it came up for hearing on Tuesday.
The court asked the state counsel to appear on their behalf.
