PESHAWAR, Oct 9: A leader of Millat Party was shot dead near his office on The Mall in cantonment area on Wednesday.

Eyewitnesses told Dawn that two persons, waiting near the back-door of the State Life Building, opened fire on East West Insurance Company Regional Director Malik Noorul Basr when he was on his way to home in the evening after closing his office. They said the assailants opened indiscriminate fire at his car (N-2572, Peshawar) killing him instantly.

“One killer, wearing light blue Kameez Shalwar fired about eight shots at the windscreen of the new car, two of which hit him in the head leading to his immediate death,” they said. The murderers escaped on foot in presence of more than three dozen shopkeepers and pedestrians.
