Mekran flood victims

Published March 1, 2011

THE devastating floods in 2007 played havoc with many households, livestock and crops in Mekran. The immediate and quick relief from NGOs was satisfactory, but the government has failed to compensate the flood affected-people even after a lapse of four years.

Since then people have been spending their nights in freezing cold and days under the scorching sun in their tents.

They neither have any safe drinking water nor any proper sanitation system.  All those promises proved merely lip-service.

The government should provide land to the flood-hit so that they can build proper homes.
