SARGODHA, Oct 8: Sudden change in MMA’s candidate in PP-33 has harmed its election campaign in the national as well as provincial constituencies.
The MMA has dropped its nominee Irfanullah Sanai in PP-33 and supported an independent candidate, Afzaal Mirza, who was refused ticket by the PPP.
The situation has created confusion in the minds of people belonging to the Jamaat Ahle Hadith, a component party of the MMA.
Meanwhile, the Sargodha Ahle Hadith asked Mr Sanai to contest election, and he announced his decision in this regard in a hurriedly called press conference on Tuesday.
He alleged that the MMA move would benefit the PPP nominee in NA-66, Tasnim Ahmad Qureshi, who is also a member of the Ahle Hadith.
He claimed that what the MMA and the Jammat-i-Islami did was against the political ethics.
He alleged that there was a hell of difference between the words and conduct of the Jamaat leaders of Sargodha.
Meanwhile, Mr Sanai’s attitude would harm the MMA nominees in NA-66 and PP-33.
It is learnt that differences between Mr Sanai and the Jamaat developed due his non-cooperation with other nominees in sharing election expenditures and his refusal to help other MMA candidates in their campaigns.
MMA nominee for NA 66 Dr Arshad Shahid, in the meanwhile, said he made adjustment with Mirza Afzaal after consultation with the MMA high-ups.
This tussle and misunderstanding at the last moment benefit PPP nominees in NA-66 and PP-34, while in PP-33 PML-QA is having an edge over others.
MMA sources told this scribe that MMA opted for Mirza Afzaal as he was enjoying the support of Arain clan.
