PESHAWAR, Oct 8: About 200 polling stations in the city have been declared highly sensitive because of a history of clashes among candidates and their supporters on the voting day.
The chief of the Capital City Police, DIG Khurshid Alam Khan, told Dawn on Tuesday that an extra number of law enforcement personnel would be deployed at these 200 polling stations, out of a total of 827, to nip any untoward incident in the bud.
The DIG said that Janbaz Force, Forest Guards, Azad Kashmir Police, Frontier Constabulary and volunteer police would assist the provincial police in maintaining the law and order on the polling day.
Army personnel would remain alert in case of any eventuality, he added.
