Penned by Imran Raza and composed by Sahir Ali Bagga, the theme song of Faseel-i-Jaan Se Aagay, Imtihan Hai Imtihan, has been jointly sung by Rahat Fateh Ali and Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan.
Here, Images on Sunday speaks to Shafqat Amanat Ali regarding the track.
Q. How did the collaboration take place?
It’s my patriotic duty to do projects which shed light on the present situation of the country. Before I started work on it, I thought it was a solo project, but later I found out that Rahat was also featured in it. I was happy as he is a great artiste.
Q. What message do you convey in the song?
The project portrays the problems we all face today. Islam doesn’t preach us to kill humanity. The biggest problem is that people who consider terrorism wrong are not raising their voices. I think it’s high time we raised our voices.
Q. What is your take on the present wave of terrorism in the country?
London was considered the most unsafe city in the world due to the Irish uprising. We are going through the same situation. Things will change because the majority is against terrorism.
Q. How is the experience of collaborating with Rahat Fateh Ali?
Rahat is a great artiste and friend. It was great working with him.
Q. What is the feel of Imtihan Hai Imtihan?
The feel of the track is usually in its lyrics. There is a message of patriotism and awareness in it.
Q. People fear opposition if they speak on this subject. Aren’t you scared?
I think terrorists are after everyone these days.
But I’m not scared. — Shahzeb Shaikh
