HYDERABAD, Feb 11: District Coordination Officer of Tando Mohammad Khan Ali Ahmed Loond has said that Sindh government has approved Rs379.1 million funds for repairs and reinforcement of Hajipur protective embankment of the Indus river.He said that the funds would be used to repair damaged parts of the embankment, carry out stone pitching and construct aprons and raise their height.
Speaking at a meeting of revenue and irrigation officers at the district secretariat, he said that as soon as the funds were released by the government, work would be started and directed the officers concerned to make preparations in this regard.Sohail Hameed Baloch, an executive engineer of irrigation department, briefed the meeting about various schemes for strengthening Hajipur bund.
He said the schemes included raising height of the embankment from zero mile to 20/2 miles, construction of aprons from 4 mile to 5/5 mile and stone pitching from 9 mile to 12/4 mile, zero mile to 9 mile and 12/4 mile to 15 mile. The height of the bank would be raised by 6 feet, he added.
