LAHORE, Feb 10: Office-bearers of various farmer unions have demanded of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to order registration of cases against revenue officials involved in converting the land of growers into a disputed property at the behest of some influential persons led by former federal minister Habibullah Warraich.

“The base of the NICL scam starts from Mouza Toru in Cantonment tehsil of the Lahore district where Habibullah Warraich and his accomplices Muhammad Akram Warraich, Mohsin Warraich, Zulifqar and others deprived at least 600 growers of their land by getting khasra, khewat and khatoni numbers changed in connivance with revenue officials on the pretext of the land settlement (Ishtimal),” alleged Kissan Welfare Society president Haji Mukhtar Ahmad while speaking to reporters at the Lahore Press Club on Thursday.

Flanked by Muttahida Kissan Mahaz and Anjuman-i-Kashtkaran’s representatives, including Imran Chaudhry, Mehroon Toru, Muhammad Shakil and Ashraf Sindhu, he said the alteration in the land record had created unrest among growers that might lead to quarrels.— Staff Reporter
