NEW YORK, Feb 10: Despite protests from Muslim advocacy groups and progressive politicians in the United States, Representative Peter King, Republican of New York, Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, has reiterated that he will move forward with a series of hearing focusing on Islamic radicalisation threat in the country.

Last week, a Democratic congressman wrote a letter to Mr King asking him to instead focus on Al Qaeda’s efforts to radicalise and recruit within the Muslim-American community, examine extreme environmentalists and neo-Nazis.

In his response, Mr King wrote that “the committee will continue to examine the threat of Islamic radicalisation, and I will not allow political correctness to obscure a real and dangerous threat to the safety and security of the citizens of the United States”.
