ISLAMABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has welcomed the All Parties Conference called by President Asif Ali Zardari to evolve consensus on current situation in the country.

MQM Deputy Convenor Dr. Farooq Sattar, addressing a press conference on Tuesday informed the media that ex-Test Cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz had joined the MQM.

“MQM has now become a national level party, it is the last hope for the poor people and to bring about change in the country's system,” he said.

People all over the country were joining MQM because of its policies, he added.

Sattar expressed pleasure on Sarfraz Nawaz joining the MQM, and hoped that the new comer would play an important role for the party in Punjab.

Speaking on the occasion, Sarfaz Nawaz said he had met MQM chief Altaf Hussain and described his thoughts to be similar with those propounded by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

He expressed the resolve to solve the issues of the common man through political struggle. “I will work as a member of MQM and it's my pleasure to join the party as a worker” he added.

Senator Babar Ghauri, who was also present on the occasion, said that the party was not against anyone, including its staunch opponent Imran Khan, Chief of Pakistani Tehrik-e-Insaf.

Sindh Minister for Information Technology Raza Haroon and other MQM members were also present at the press conference.
