Ding youngest gold medallist

BUSAN, Oct 5: Snooker boy wonder Ding Junhui of China became the youngest gold medallist of the Asian Games Saturday when he won the individual title.

Fifteen-year-old Ding, the World and Asian Junior champion, defeated Supoj Saenla of Thailand by three frames to one to clinch the gold. Ding took a silver medal in the snooker team tournament when China went down 2-1 to Hong Kong Thursday.

The talented schoolboy has been tipped for the top by Hong Kong’s Marco Fu, the highest world ranked player in the competition.

Chan Kwok-Ming of Hong Kong added a bronze medal to his team gold when he downed Tola Neang of Cambodia 3-2 in the third place play-off.—AFP
