RAWALPINDI, Feb 3: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has been given Rs30 million from MNA Malik Abrar for the water supply schemes in NA-54 as Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani approved the grant.The RCB officials told Dawn on Thursday that the Defence Ministry had directed the RCB to use the Rs30 million funding by the end of the current fiscal. They said the RCB planned to spend the grant on installing three tube wells and improving water supply network.

The officials said that the funds would be used for improving water supply to Aadra, Chungi No. 22, Chur Chowk, Misrial Road, R A Bazaar, Ahmedabad, Quaid-i-Azam Colony, Mughalabad and adjoining localities.

They said that three tube wells would be installed at Mughalabad and R A Bazaar. They said that the water supply network would be connected with the main supply from Khanpur Dam. They said that the work on the water supply scheme would be started by the end of the current month and completed before the advent of summer. They said that the RCB would also replace old and rusty water pipelines in some areas.—A Reporter
