Turkish textile importers support Pakistan's point

KARACHI: Turkish businessmen have supported Pakistan's point of view on the proposed anti-dumping duties on fabric and denim imports and termed it as totally unjustified.

According to information reaching Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) here Tuesday, the Turkish business extended this support during a meeting with the chief executive TDAP Tariq Iqbal Puri who is visiting Turkey on government's instruction.

They also requested Tariq Puri to convey their feeling to the Turkish authorities during the forthcoming meeting with Turkish Ministers for Finance and Commerce.

TDAP chief has held a meeting with leading Turkish importers of fabric, denim fabric and ready made garment manufacturers to evaluate the issue and to muster support of local importers and manufacturers on the proposed safeguard measures by Turkey on fabric and garment imports.

During the meetings, very fruitful and informative exchange of views took palace and Puri has successfully solicited the views of Turkish business community.

Tariq Puri will call upon Turkish authorities in Ankara and hold meeting with Minister of Commerce Zafar Caylan and Minister for Finance Ali Babacan to convey the views of Government of Pakistan and of businessmen of both the countries.
