MIANWALI, Oct 4: Four murder convicts who earned pardon in the much-publicised Abbakhel ‘Vani’ case were released from the Central Jail here on Friday.
These convicts in order to save their necks had agreed to hand over their eight daughters to the complainants and Rs8 million cash.
The deal could not materialize as the administration intervened on July 24 on the instructions of the Supreme Court and the Punjab governor.
The complainants then dropped ‘Vani’ (exchange of girls to settle disputes).
The convicts later paid Rs8million but could not be released due to differences among the complainants over the division of the money.
On Friday they managed to settle their differences and conveyed their consent to the district and sessions judge.
