KARACHI, Oct 4: Speakers at a meeting of the Hamdard Shura (Karachi Chapter) were of the view that no single political party would be able to form the government alone and suspected that there might be some sort of horse-trading in the parliament after the elections.

The meeting, entitled “general elections and beginning of democracy” was chaired by Ombudsman Justice Haziqul Khairi at a local hotel here on Friday, says a press release.

Speakers at the meeting urged the people to bring forward sincere and honest candidates keeping aside feelings on any other grounds, like community “birathri” and so on.

They were of the view that political fronts contesting elections would be dissolved soon after elections and the way would be paved for horse-trading.

The speakers stressed the need of education in the country calling it backbone of democracy while condemning sectarianism and feudalism.

While lauding graduation condition for candidates of national and provincial assemblies, speakers said so far 69 feudal lords have been out of election process.

The meeting was attended by members of Hamdard Shura and a large number of other people.
