Suicide vests found in truck bound for Karachi

NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Jan 24: A large quantity of arms and ammunition was seized from a Karachi-bound truck on the National Highway on Monday.

Sukkur excise police director Ahmed Khan Solangi told reporters that the truck carrying crates of oranges was intercepted near Kotri Kabir. During checking four suicide jackets, 40 hand-grenades, two rocket-launchers along with 11 projectiles, three Kalashnikov rifles, 32 detonators, 10 fuses and a large quantity of drugs were found, he said.

Mr Solangi said the truck belonging to the New Friends Goods Transport Company was going to Karachi from Miramshah, the headquarters of North Waziristan.

Truck driver Ghazi, 45, a resident of Dera Ismail Khan, and cleaner Marzak, 35, of Tank were arrested and the truck (LHJ-5900) was impounded, he said.
