Compensation for traders
PESHAWAR, Jan 14: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Usman Bashir Bilour has welcomed the government’s decision to compensate the businessmen affected by bomb blasts.
In a statement here on Friday the chamber’s head said the government had approved distribution Rs60 million among the affected businessmen to help them restart businesses.
Mr Usman asked the affected businessmen to keep a close liaison with chamber member Shaukat Ali Khan and timely inform him on phone numbers 0333-9197771, 091-9213313.
Meanwhile, arms and ammunition importer standing committee of the chamber and All Pakistan Arms and Ammunition Association have appreciated Businessman Forum leader Senator Ilyas Bilour for extending support in solution to problems of the arms dealers. —Bureau Report
DCO’s ‘impolite’ attitude
LAKKI MARWAT, Jan 14: The All Employees Coordination Council at a meeting here on Friday condemned what they described unbecoming attitude of the DCO with low-ranking employees of his office.
Acting president of the council Saeed Akhtar chaired the meeting. The participants expressed concern over the ‘impolite’ attitude of DCO with employees especially with the clerks and other low-ranking officials.
They said putting clerks and other low-ranking officials of his office in the lock-up for minor mistakes by the DCO was a condemnable act and the practice should be stopped forthwith. They demanded transfer of the DCO and announced that the employees’ council would launch a peaceful protest movement from Jan 17 if provincial government did not accept their genuine demand. —Correspondent
Payment of pension
PESHAWAR, Jan 14: In pursuance of Supreme Court's order, the government has decided to introduce a new method of payment of pension to facilitate the pensioners.
According to the new mode, pensions will be credited directly to pensioners’ accounts maintained with any scheduled bank, says a statement issued here on Friday.
However, pensioners have the option to adopt old or new modes of getting pension. An option proforma has been devised for the purpose.
The option form is to be sent to the account office which issued the original PPO. A pensioner will have to open an account with any scheduled bank.
The pensioner shall produce an ‘indemnity bond” to the bank equal to an amount of six months of pension, or shall authorise the bank to mark lien on his/her account to the extent of six months’ pension. —Bureau Report
Abolition of FCR demanded
PESHAWAR, Jan 14: Participants at a workshop demanded abolishment of the centuries-old draconian Frontier Crimes Regulation in Fata to help bring political and social development to this poor and militancy-hit region.
The workshop titled “HR and Democracy, Project Planning and Presentation Skills” was organised by Community Appraisal and Motivation Programme (Camp) here the other day.
A spokesman of the Camp told Dawn on Friday the workshop was aimed at imparting training to the community-based organisations of various Fata regions. “We want to create awareness among the communities about the existing laws, problems being faced by the people and to find solution to the matters.—Bureau Report
Security at schools
LAKKI MARWAT, Jan 14: The district ESED department has asked the heads of government schools to enhance security measures in their respective institutions to avert any untoward incident in the prevailing precarious circumstances.
In a circular ESED EDO Haji Noor Hasan Khan directed the principals and headmasters of primary, middle, high and higher secondary schools (boys and girls) to instruct students not to take anything from any suspect while on way to school. The students should be directed to inform the principals or headmasters about the presence of any suspected person or thing around the school or in the locality where the school exists.
The school heads are to ensure presence of class four employees round the clock to keep the main gate of schools closed and also keep a vigil on people coming to or going from the school. —Correspondent
Gas supply project
MARDAN, Jan 14: PPP MNA Khanzada Khan inaugurated a project to provide gas facility to the Sawaldher area here on Friday.Addressing the elders of the area gathered at the occasion the MNA said the PPP-led federal government was committed to bringing prosperity and betterment in the lives of poor people.
He explained that the BISP and other several developmental mega projects were launched for uplift of poor people.He, however, made it clear that he would not leave any stone unturned to fulfill promises he made with the people of his constituency of NA-11 before the elections. —Correspondent
