RAWALPINDI, Jan 12: Two prisoners died in Adiala jail on Wednesday, the jail authorities said.

Abdul Raheem, 55, was completing his jail term after being convicted of processing narcotics. He died on Wednesday in the lavatory of his barrack.

According to jail superintendent Mohsin Rafiq, he was an addict and had been suffering from various diseases for some time. He said apparently Raheem died of cardiac arrest. His body was handed over to his family after postmortem.

Faiz Ahmed, a convicted prisoner in an attempt to murder case died in the Benazir Bhutto Hospital on Wednesday.

According to jail authorities, he had been suffering from liver cancer since long and was shifted to the hospital due to his precarious condition. He had been sentenced to 14-year imprisonment.
